The celebrated Chicago Jazz Ensemble, led by the great trumpeter Jon Faddis, comes to Pick-Staiger to perform Duke Ellington’s jazz symphony Black, Brown, and Beige. The program also includes a wonderful new composition by Northwestern jazz studies director Victor Goines. Benny: Then, Now, Forever! honors the great Benny Goodman in grand fashion and promises to be an exhilarating finale to our festival of celebrations.

Young star-crossed love opens and closes this concert of fateful pairs. Beethoven's oft-neglected Symphony #2 was the last of his early "classical" symphonic works. A pair from the orchestra’s own ranks, John & Laura Fairfield, performs the Chicago-area premiere of a movement from Stephen Gerber's Concerto for Two Horns.
