The Chicago Jazz Ensemble Pick-Staiger Concert Hall Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, 50 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston, IL 60208 The celebrated Chicago Jazz Ensemble, led by the great trumpeter Jon Faddis, comes to Pick-Staiger to perform Duke Ellington’s jazz symphony Black, Brown, and Beige. The program also includes a wonderful new composition by Northwestern jazz studies director Victor Goines. Benny: Then, Now, Forever! honors the great Benny Goodman in grand fashion and promises to be an exhilarating finale to our festival of celebrations. $18/15/8 7:30pm Fateful Pairs Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Lincoln-Way North Performing Arts Center, 19900 South Harlem Avenue, Frankfort, IL Leonard Bernstein Overture to West Side Story Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 2 in D major Stephen Gerber Vivace from Concerto for Two Horns John & Laura Fairfield, horns (Midwest premiere) Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy Young star-crossed love opens and closes this concert of fateful pairs. Beethoven's oft-neglected Symphony #2 was the last of his early "classical" symphonic works. A pair from the orchestra’s own ranks, John & Laura Fairfield, performs the Chicago-area premiere of a movement from Stephen Gerber's Concerto for Two Horns. 8:00pm
