Uruguayan Crespo perfectly translates folklore and feelings of his home into excitingly virtuosic brass music.  André Previn’s Four Songs for soprano, cello and piano is a wonderful piece of truly American music.  Previn composes with his trademark blend of classical and jazz idioms.  The Beethoven "Triple" Concerto showcases a trio of soloists against a chamber orchestra, the only piece of this instrumentation ever composed.

Winter is a fact of life in Scandinavian lands, where favorite escapes include an hour in the sauna or the experience of incredibly beautiful music.  You will need to supply your own sauna, but Ars Viva will give you the great music:  Grieg's best-loved melodies; Nielsen's meltingly lyrical violin concerto with the consummate Chinese-American artist, Yang Liu (acclaimed as 'best of the billion!'); and a richly rewarding Sibelius symphony often on the lists of musicians' favorites.

Some of Handel’s most brilliant choral music was inspired by royal occasions. A festive wedding anthem and the birthday ode for Queen Anne sparkle with energy and grandeur, while the monumental funeral anthem Handel wrote for his childhood friend Queen Caroline is a powerful expression of public sorrow and personal grief.
