Eliot Fisk is recognized worldwide for his groundbreaking transcriptions of baroque and classical works as well as his generosity in bringing music to schools, hospitals, prisons, and other unconventional venues. Many of his recordings for labels such as DGG, Arabesque, and EMI have made the Billboard charts as bestsellers, and in 2006 he was awarded the Cruz de Isabel la Católica by King Juan Carlos of Spain for his service to the cause of Spanish music. During his 2008–09 season he began a successful collaboration with fellow guitarist Angel Romero and premiered composer Robert Beaser’s Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra. Germany’s Passauer Neue Presse declares, “Fisk brings out melodies and voices as only a Bach or a Paganini might have intended.” His return to Northwestern is not to be missed. Part of the Segovia Classical Guitar Series, supported in part by the Chicago Classical Guitar Society.
